Industrial and municipal wastewater foaming may cause technical, health and safety issues for employees and equipment. Uncontrolled excessive foaming can lead to foam spills and excess labor time to clean up, pump cavitation and technical failure. When using Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) treatment one must pay extra attention to a correct defoamer selection. Membrane fouling is a common phenomenon due to incompatible defoamer chemistry: silicone oils (polydimethylsiloxane), polyglycols, etc’. Some of the possible effects are: severe operational and environmental problems, reduction in membrane permeability, frequent cleaning cycles, excessive foaming, increased oxygen demand, and poor effluent quality. Metalub MBR defoamers are inert to Membrane and bacteria.
Wastewater Treatment
Product | Application | Features | Chemistry |
---|---|---|---|
